JAMMU, Oct 9: Criticising opposition for making attempts to derail peace in the State, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and member J&K State Advisory Board for Gujjar and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that the resolution adopted by Legislative Assembly to check the growing menace of Narcotics by the youth of the State is a welcome step.
Choudhary said that several young lives have been lost due to drugs and there is no check on the same. Now that Assembly has adopted a resolution on the issue every possible effort should be put in to check use of drugs by youth and their energy channelized towards productive issues.
The PDP leader said drugs were being smuggled in from neighbouring States and countries but there is no check on this menace. Establishment of de-addiction and rehabilitation centres at all district hospitals is a welcome step but there is a need of nipping the evil in the bud. There is a need of ending the smuggling so that youth don’t actually get to lay hands on drugs.
