SRINAGAR: A BJP leader today alleged a “murderous assault” on him by the security of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during a meeting here – an allegation denied by the Government which said the leader was thrown out of a meeting after gross misconduct.
Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal alleged that during Gujjar Bakerwal advisory meeting at SKICC on Saturday, the Chief Minister’s security guards beat him “ruthlessly” after Sayeed “directed them to do so”.
However, the Government officials said that Poswal, during the conference, raised slogans against Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti and even made remarks after which his presence at the conference had become untenable.
They said that Poswal had made personal remarks against the Chief Minister and his daughter during the conference after which Sayeed asked the security officials to take him out of the meeting and hand him over to the local police.
Poswal was taken the nearest police station where he was left after sometime, they said. Some of the officials present at the meeting also denied allegations levelled by Poswal.
In a letter to BJP national president Amit Shah, Poswal sought his intervention into the “murderous assault”.
“I am feeling immense insecurity to my life and have taken up the issue with BJP president. I may move court to register a case against the father-daughter duo for murderous assault on me,” Poswal said. (AGENCIES)
