JAMMU, Oct 14: All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch (DCM) expressed concern over failure of the Government to protect the constitutional rights of SC, ST, OBC and RBA category employees.
Addressing a press conference, Sham Lal Basson, President of the Manch highlighted the issues regarding implementation of Reservation in J&K State and atrocities being committed on Scheduled Castes.
“It is to mention that the reservation in our State is regulated by the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act 2004 and the Rules modified there under vide SRO-294 of 2005. The striking down of Section 6 of Reservation Act 2004 will cause irreparable financial and status loss”, he said.
He added that the Fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution of India are applicable to J&K State as per Article 10 of Constitution of J&K.
He urged to Ministers, MLAs and MLCs belonging to reservation category to come forward to protect the constitutional rights of these categories.
All Ministers, MLAs and MLCs of reserved categories are requested to approach Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister to protect the constitutional rights of employees of reserved categories, he added.
Narinder Dutt, General Secretary, DCM condemned the incidence of Uttar Pradesh State where member of Scheduled Caste communities including women and children, were forcibly naked paraded before huge gathering. This is shameful act for whole country. This has killed the humanity by crossing all limits. In village Nagore of Rajasthan the Schedule Caste families were crushed under tractors and they were forced to leave the village. These types of acts will not be tolerated in any case, he stated.
Sham Lal Basson also warned the State Government that if it fails to protect the Constitutional Rights of reserved categories, lakhs of people belonging to these reserved categories will come on roads and Government will be responsible for any untoward incident.
