Senior Citizens Day held at Kargil

KARGIL, Oct 16: Senior citizens belonging to different walks of life were invited by the Chairman DLSA Tasleem Arief in the District Court Complex here today to mark the observance of Senior Citizen’s Day  in wake of calendar issued by Legal Services Authority.
In this connection, representatives of IKMT, ISK and General Secretary Zainabiya Women Welfare Society, woman wing IKMT, ISK Haji Mohammad Baqir Retired CEO, Haji Akbar AH attended on behalf of senior citizens. Besides, Amarjeet Singh Langeh and Tsewang Phuntsog, Chairman TLS Kargil- and Sankoo were also present in the meeting.
Tasleem Arief, Chairman DLSA, Kargil in his inaugural speech outlined the purpose and aim of the meeting and stressed on senior citizens to come forward with their valuable suggestions to help address problems faced by them and to seek redressal of their grievances through services provided by DLSA-Kargil under the provisions of Legal Services.
On behalf of senior citizens, Sheikh Asger AB representative of ISK termed the meeting an important event.
Inadequate space and facilities in District Hospital Kargil, mis-management of vehicular traffic on roads in the district and lack of information- regarding welfare schemes provided for welfare of senior citizens by the Government were the main issues highlighted during the meeting.
Amargeet Singh Langeh, Chairman TLSA, Kargil while speaking on the occasion assured the participants that their problems will be taken up on priority and placed before concerned quarters.
