12th martyr day of Tara Chand observed

SAMBA, Oct 17: The 12th martyr day of Tara Chand Lakhotra was observed at his native village in Chak Salarian, Ramgarh, today.
On the occasion, former Minister and former legislator Surjeet Singh Slathia was the chief guest, while Romesh Lal Mottan, President Batwal biradari and Sarpanch Darshan Singh were also present.
They paid floral tributes to brave soldier, who scarified his life while defending Nation’s integrity during Operation Parakram on October 17, 2003.
Speaking on this occasion, Slathia said that our real heroes have always played an important role in fighting militancy and maintain peace in the State. He said that their sacrifice should not be forgotten in any condition.
The family members of Tara Chand also paid rich tributes to the son of soil.
Romesh Lal Mottan and Sarpanch Darshan Singh also addressed the gathering and termed Tara Chand’s martyrdom a great sacrifice for the motherland.
Riaz Malik, Soudhgar Gupta, Trilok Mottan, Thoru Ram, Bachan Singh, Satpaul, Ghara Ram and Sunil Kumar also shared their views during the martyr day ceremony function.
On the occasion, a cultural programme was presented by school students.
