International music concert by artists of Spain held at SMVDU Katra

JAMMU, Oct 17: Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University organized the first ever international music concert by the artists of Spain at Matrika Auditorium, SMVDU, Katra.
On the occasion, Sushma Chauhan, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Reasi was the chief guest, whileas large number of music lovers from the university campus and people from Jammu and other parts of the region were also present.
Welcoming the distinguished gathering, Regional director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the motive behind holding such International presentations. Music group from Spain is the fifth International group of artists visiting Jammu for their performance ever since the establishment of ICCR office in Jammu. He hoped that the performance by Spain artists will be a great opportunity to understand their cultural traditions and this will also inspire many to achieve such level of excellence in the music world. He introduced Spanish musicians Eduardo Paniagua and his colleague Cesar Carazo to the audience and threw light on their life.
The soulful musical presentation by the Spain artists stayed in the minds of the audience for their life-time. People were amazed to see the command of the Spanish musicians on varied instruments and diverse singing styles. Literally they successfully transported the entire audience on a journey of medieval Spain.
The visiting artists were also felicitated by the Sushma Chauhan, Registrar SMVDU Ajay Khajuria and Regional Director ICCR Balwant Thakur.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushma Chauhan hoped to see more such performances by other countries in this region.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Dr Rakesh Kumar, Vice President, Board of Cultural Activities, SMVDU. The presentations were done by Vedika Sumbly and Karan Sapolia.
