Dhowan arrives in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 17:  Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral RK Dhowan today arrived in Srinagar on a one day visit and interacted with the Navy and Army troops.
A Defence spokesman said here that the Naval chief was received by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General Satish Dua and was updated on the present situation in Valley at Badami Bagh Cantonment.
“The Naval chief was given an update on the various activities undertaken by Chinar Corps related with security and people oriented welfare initiatives. Corps Commander particularly apprised the Naval chief about the role of Army and Marine Commandos who relentlessly worked to save the people and provide succour during the hours of distress,” he said.
The spokesman further said: “The Naval chief addressed the officers and interacted with all ranks of Army, Airforce and Navy. He complimented the Chinar Corps for ensuring a secure environment in the State. He emphasized upon synergized people friendly operations, upholding the law of the land and respecting human rights.
He highlighted several initiatives being undertaken for capability augmentation of the Armed Forces and welfare measures,” adding: “He also apprised the officers of Chinar Corps about the latest developments in Indian Navy.”
The Naval chief expressed his satisfaction about the security situation prevailing in the Valley and appreciated the Chinar Corps for its relentless welfare initiatives towards people, the spokesman added.
