CME on ‘20 yrs of use of Statins’ organized

JAMMU, Oct 18: A Continuous Medicine Education (CME) programme on the topic ’20 years of use of Statins- where we stand’ was held last night here at Fortune Hotel.
The proceedings of technical session of CME were chaired jointly by Dr Mohan Lal and Dr CD Gupta, former Prof & Head, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu as chairperson while Dr Sushil Sharma, Prof & Head, Department of Cardiology, GMC Jammu and Dr Gurjit Singh, former Head & Director, JK Medicity, attended the occasion as guests of honour.
The programme was attended by a large number of medicos from different specialties.
The keynote speaker from host Medanta -The Medicity, Dr Balbir Singh, while speaking on the subject with special reference to J&K said, “The turmoil in Kashmir since ’90s has taken its toll and in recent past flood in Kashmir valley had increased the stress level of common man in both Kashmir and Jammu regions of State.”
Enlightening the gathering on recent developments on Statins medicine, Dr Balbir Singh stressed upon use of Statin medicine which is helping to reduce LDL cholesterol from body and challenges faced in treatment of increasing LDL cholesterol leads to heart diseases.
Dr Singh also replied queries raised by medicos during the CME on basic issues related to Heart problems, indications and results, treatment by New Drug Statin and management of Pre-MI during Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for medical practitioners in Jammu.
Earlier addressing a press conference, Dr Balbir Singh, who is the Chairman of Medanta Heart Institute informed that now people of J&K have option to take second opinion in their home town as Dr Naresh Trehan had opened Medi Consult Centre in both provinces of State where Sudhanshu Sharma (Senior Manager ) is looking after the centres to provide best health services to mankind
The CME was organized in association with Care India foundation, a part of Medanta Mediconsult Network, serving people of Jammu & Kashmir for the last five years.
