Rail service in Kashmir suspended for security reasons

SRINAGAR :  Rail service has been suspended in the Kashmir valley for security reasons following a general strike called by separatists in protest against the death of trucker Zahir Bhat, who was battling for his life in hospital after being injured in a petrol bomb attack on his truck at Udhampur.

A railway official told that for security reasons, all trains operating between Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir and Srinagar-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu have been cancelled.
