Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Suicides in Jammu and Kashmir’ published in the Sunday Magazine of the DE a week ago. The articles was quite informative and an eye-opener for the authorities and various social groups.
It seems that we are not very much serious about this issue which is assuming dangerous proportions day by day in our society. Even other day one or two suicide cases are reported in newspaper. The people read them, and then forget. These suicides do not provoke social scientists and society members to ascertain the cause of these deaths. No remedial measures are in place to overcome this issue of great importance. If we let it continue, it will have adverse effect on our social life. Besides, it reflects that there are certain ills that afflict our society and we are not concerned about them.
The authorities are requested to arrest this trend by taking some measures in this direction.
Yours etc…
