SRINAGAR : A militant of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was killed and three Army soldiers were wounded in a fierce encounter in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, a defence ministry spokesman said.
Lt Colonel N N Joshi said, “Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Bongam Kunzar in Baramulla district of north Kashmir this morning following a tip off about the presence of militants.”
However, when the security forces were sealing the particular area in the village, militants attacked search party. “Security forces also retaliated, ensuing a fierce encounter,” he said adding a militant was killed and three Army soldiers were injured.
“The slain militant was identified as Nisar Wani, a local resident,” he said adding large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered near the site of encounter.
The injured soldiers were admitted to 92 Base hospital at Badami Bagh Cantonment. (UNI)
