JAMMU, Oct 23: Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the BJP had entered in an alliance with PDP to honor the mandate of the people of providing a transparent and corruption-free Government.
“BJP has entered into alliance with the PDP to honor the mandate of the people of the State and provide transparent, corruption-free and people-friendly Government and power for us is a means to serve the people,” Singh said, during a function organized to mark the 131st birth anniversary of Pandit Premnath Dogra here today.
Singh, said that the BJP being in the government in the State was the result of the seeds sown by Prem Nath Dogra who had stood for strengthening nationalist forces, equal treatment to all the regions and had played a key role in “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement.
“The month of October is very sacred and important for us as number of events like birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh, Ram Navmi, Dussehra, Pandit Premnath Dogra birth anniversary and Accession Day fall in this month and all of these occasions carry positive significance and message for the people,” Dr Singh said.
He said today was not only the day to pay tributes but to take pledge to fight the forces which are working to create wedge between the State and rest of the country.
He said a pledge has to be taken to chalk out the State’s future role while keeping in mind the supreme sacrifices of Indian soldiers, security forces, policemen and the civilians, who laid down their lives for the cause of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also declared that River Tawi would be developed on the pattern of Sabarmati river in Gujarat, the work for multi- tier parking at bus stand and Panjtirthi would be accelerated, border tourism in Suchetgarh developed, Yoga Centre set up at Mantalai, glory of historical Mubarak Mandi complex be restored, among other projects.
He allayed the fears that BJP will betray the people of Jammu and said the Party will come to the expectations of the masses. He said that coalition will show zero tolerance to corruption as Party is committed to take the State on the path of development.
He said the Pt Prem Nath Dogra Rotary was constructed from MLA Rajesh Gupta’s CDF and assured that this will be made a beautiful rotary befitting the towering personality of Sher Duggar.  He also announced that the Tawi Lake will be constructed and the river Tawi will be developed on the pattern of Sabarmati in Gujarat. Besides, Mubarak Mandi will be fully developed and parking slots will be constructed at various places in the State. He said the foundation of Rs 200 crore parking slot has been laid at Bus Stand recently.
The Deputy CM said that Baglihar 450 mw second Unit will be commissioned by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his visit to the State on November 7.
The function was organized by Jammu district BJP led by its president Rajesh Gupta, MLA.
