JAMMU, Oct 23: Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar today instructed the Public Works Department to black top all the roads leading to Jhiri ahead of famous Jhiri Mela.
The Minister directed the Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Rajan Mengi to start the black topping of Baba da Talab to Jhiri via Shama Chak road, Baba da Talab to Hari Singh Ghrat road and Shama Chack to Chak Mani road and Jhiri to Dub Sudan road for the convenience of the devotees.
The Minister said this while addressing a public gathering after laying the foundation stone for the construction of RCC vented causeway on Kalyanpur to Bachyal road via Zakir de Kothey over Jhiri nallah in Marh block of Jammu.
The bridge having a span of 21 m will be constructed under the Border Area Development programme at a cost of Rs. 59 lakh benefitting the large population of Kalyanpur, Bachyal, Buraj and Jasma villages.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to take adequate steps to redress the problems of people and ensure that the developmental works are completed in stipulated time frame. He also directed the concerned agencies to construct toilets in the area so that the people do not go out for open defecation.
The Minister also inspected the works being done to dig a tube well in Jhiri and directed the concerned officers work is completed in time. He instructed the Executive Engineer PHE, Vijay Gupta to ensure clean drinking water supply to Kalyanpur and stressed to ensure proper monitoring to check pilferages in water supply so that water does not get contaminated and clean portable water is provided to public.
