MENDHAR, Aug 27: Sarpanchs, Panchs and several political and social activists held protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) and demanded that exhorbitant power bills circulated by the department in Mendhar tehsil be withdrawn.
A large number of members of the Panchayats, several political and social activists and commoners came out on the road and assembled at Shahidi Yadgar Mandhar. They held protest demonstration there against the PDD authorities for circulating power bills showing double rate from last month. They pointed out that area was non-metered and hardly ten hour power is being provided and the PDD has doubled the bills which is highly unjustified.
They appealed the public not to pay the bills and then in the form of protest rally they moved to the office of SDM Mendhar. They took up the issue with the SDM who assured that he will take up the matter with the concerned PDD officials. They also submitted a memorandum to the SDM and gave one week time to the Administration, failing which they will intensify the agitation.
