Govt urged to implement HC order against reservation in promotion

POONCH, Oct 25: Hailing the High Court decision on quashing of reservation in promotions, several Government employees, students and prominent members of civil society have urged the Government to immediately implement the court order in letter and spirit.
The Gazetted as well as Non Gazetted Government officials, Lawyers, students and members of civil society held an extraordinary meeting at Dak Bungalow Poonch. The meet said in one voice that High Court has done a great justice with people from general category.
The speakers urged the Government to implement the judgment in letter in spirit in the larger interest of public of J&K. Reservations in promotion have deprived the general category incumbents of their constitutional right of equal opportunity in advancement of their career even after getting appointed on merit, they observed.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Shaheen Khan CPO, said that High Court has awarded a remarkable judgment and general category people are happy with this justice. Er Saleem Bandey, who had organized the program, said that the general category people have no enmity with anybody but they are raising their issue which is most genuine.
