JAMMU, Aug 27: After digging 30 meters ahead of border fencing, the Border Security Force (BSF) today managed to detect another part of the tunnel, which was similar 20 feet underground the earth at forward village of Chechwal in Samba sector.
Official sources said on third day of continued digging beyond fencing at Chechwal, the BSF today came across a portion of the tunnel when they had dug the earth about 30 meters ahead of the border fencing.
Sources said the BSF would try to go ahead to detect more length of the tunnel. The help of experts could also be taken, they added.
The BSF and Geological Survey of India had already detected 540 meters tunnel dug by Pakistan authorities inside Indian territory in forward village of Chechwal inside the fencing.
Sources said the tunnel detected in Chechwal and ahead of border fencing could be leading to across the border.
‘‘The tunnel would have its origin in Pakistan from where the Rangers and other Pakistani agencies had planned to infiltrate militants and smuggle narcotics into Indian territory’’, they added.
