BSP takes out pro-reservation rally

JAMMU, Oct 26: The State Unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today took out a pro-reservation rally here today.
Amid slogans, large number of activists of BSP led by Tarsem Khullar, president and ML Tomar, Ex-MLC, UP and State coordinator, J&K, took part in the rally, which started from Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk and culminated at Raj Bhawan. They also handed over a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner for further submission to Governor.
The leaders of numerous social and cultural organizations also participated in the rally. Those who spoke were Piran Ditta, president, All J&K Guru Ravidas Sabha, Bodh Raj Bhagat, vice-president, All India Bhagat Maha Sabha, Mohinder Bhagat, president, Bhagat Mahasabha J&K, Bodh Raj Rao, president, Mahasha Sadar Sabha, Ajab Singh Motton, president Batwal Sudhar Sabha, Biru Ram, president, J&K Barwala Sabha, Shashi Verma, president Vishkarma Sabha, Sham Lal Baman, president, Dalit Chetna Manch, Banarsi Dass, president, All J&K Leather Union, Dr Gafoor Ahmed, president Gujjar Front, Mohinder Kashyap, president Kashyap Kalyan Sabha, Bahadur Lal, president Saryara Sabha and Kamal Choudhary, president, Jat Kalyan Sabha.
While speaking, Tarsem Khullar appealed the State Government to call a special session of the J&K Legislature and pass the law for extending 77th, 81st and 85th amendments in the State, adding that there is great resentment among the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward sections of society over the anti-attitude of the present PDP-BJP Government in the State and BJP Government in the Centre.
He added that attack on reservation was depiction of caste prejudices still prevalent in the society and RSS was vigorously trying to foment such prejudices and communal hatred. He further stated that the statement of Mohan Bhagwat, RSS Chief for reviewing the reservation policy was just the tip of the iceberg.
ML Tomar while speaking said that BSP will continue to espouse the cause of backward sections and minorities as per the principles laid down by Dr BR Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram. He disclosed that all the opposition parties including Congress, because of their own weaknesses have surrendered before communal and castist forces led by BJP and RSS.
Among others present were State vice president, SR Majotra, RL Chargotra, Rattan, HC Thapa, Jagdish Raj Verma, Pawan Gupta, KL Attri, SN Dogra, Charan Dass, BD Thappa, BL Dingra, Raj Kumar Thappa, Charanjeet Bitta, Pritam Chand, Deepak Rana and Ramesh Mottan.
