GDC Billawar holds symposium

BILLAWAR, Oct 28: Govt Degree College Billawar in collaboration with the Sub-Division Administration  Billawar organized the symposium on the topic ‘Preventive Vigilance as a Tool for Good Governance’ which is this years’ theme of  the Vigilance Week being  celebrated  by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Dr R S Charak, SDM Billawar was the chief guest and Vishavjeet Singh ,Tehsildar Billawar was the guest of honour on the occasion. To begin with, Tehsildar Billawar threw light on the various aspects of preventive vigilance and its role in curbing the corruption and hence providing good governace.
A large number of students participated in the symposium. Their performances were adjudicated by the jury comprising Vishavjeet Singh, Tehsildar Billawar, Prof Satishwar Singh and Lecturer Roopali Gupta on the basis of the content, pronunciation and presentation. Aarti  and Anjali Devi secured first and second positions respectively and were awarded with the mementos.
While speaking on the occasion,  the chief guest threw light on the various enactments like Public Services Guarantee Act, Right to Information, etc which empower people to hold the administration accountable.He exhorted the students to inculcate moral character so that the menace of corruption can be eliminated from the root itself.
He also made realize the students that its peoples’ administration and their participation is of utmost importace in curbing corruption and ensuring good governance. The program was compeered by Prof Amit Kumar Sharma.
