23 bovines being smuggled via Mughal Road seized

RAJOURI, Oct 29: The police seized 23 bovine animals from Darhal and Sunderbani area of district Rajouri while being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road last night.
Reports said that a police party led by SHO Darhal, Raghubir Sharma during naka last night intercepted 21 bovine animals at Raiki Baan and detained one person.  His two other associates managed to escape taking cover of darkness. They were moving on foot towards Mughal Road from where they had to load the animals  in trucks for their onward journey to Kashmir Valley.
The arrested smuggler was identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Salam Din, resident of  Budhal. He had brought these animals from that area by taking short on-foot route to reach Mughal Road ahead of Thannamandi. The police rescued all the animals and arrested the accused. A case was registered in this connection. The police also started manhunt for the two associates of Manzoor Ahmed.
Meanwhile, two bovine animals were seized by police party at Sunderbani  when they were being taken in a Tavera passenger vehicle bearing registration No. JK03C/2449, by giving slip to the police naka parties on highway last night. The police party led by SHO Sunderbani during naka near ITI, intercepted a Tavera vehicle. While the driver and his associate jumped out of the vehicle at some distance and escaped in darkness, the police party found two bovine animals tied with seats after folding them. They were believed to be taken to Kashmir during night. A case was registered in this connection.
