UDHAMPUR, Oct 29: An employee of Government Agriculture Department and his younger brother, who was a student of Degree College Udhampur, were knocked to death when the two wheeler, they were riding on, was hit by a rashly driven bus from rear side on the Dhar Road, this evening.
The duo was on way to their married sister’s residence for presenting sweets and other customary items on the eve of Karva Chauth when the tragic accident took place.
The deceased were identified as Vinod Sharma (an employee of Agriculture Department) and his younger brother Aman Sharma ( student of Government Degree College Udhampur), sons of Vishwamurti Sharma of Sunetar, Ramnagar, presently putting up at Kallar, Udhampur.
Aman Sharma reportedly died on the spot while Vinod succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
The bus driver managed to flee after abandoning the vehicle, which was not carrying any passenger. The bus, bearing registration number JK08A-5559, was allegedly being driven rashly and it had also hit some other vehicles before knocking down both the brothers.
Police has registered a case in this connection and seized the bus besides launching a manhunt to nab the absconding driver.
