Srinagar, Oct 29: An army porter was killed by an avalanche in Gurez sector of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district today.
An army porter, Ghulam Qadir Toruk, 50, son of Habibullah of Kudara village in Gurez was buried alive after snow avalanche hit the Chakwali Tulial area today.
Soon after the incident, locals and army immediately launched an operation and after several hours the body was retrieved.
Porter’s son Farooq Ahmad Toruk also sustained injuries and has been hospitalized.
The porter was working for Army’s 16 Dogra Regiment when he was buried under avalanche.
