DC participates in Umeed Awareness Campaign

SAMBA, Oct 31: District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda participated in the Umeed Awareness Campaign at Ghagwal. Large number of community mobilisers were present on the occasion.
Mohammad Yousuf Bhatt, DPM Umeed gave brief presentation about work being done under Umeed Scheme. He informed that at present 465 female Self Help Groups are functioning in Ghagwal Block.
DDC enquired from participants about sanitary provision in their homes and surroundings. She stressed on community ownership in Government schemes for their successful implementation. She exhorted all to stop open defecation as children and old age people are most prone to diseases. She insisted on 100 per cent toilet coverage with main focus on panchayat wise completion.
District Panchayat Officer, Deepak Dubey informed that at present Rs 12000 incentive is being given for toilet construction under rules. He described different possible designs for toilet construction to the participants.
On the occasion, the DDC also briefed about newly launched Government schemes Ladli Beti and Aasra. Various other issues like female foeticide, health care etc were also discussed.
The campaign was also attended by ADDC Samba Vivek Sharma, Tehsildar Ghagwal Rajni and BDO Ghagwal Bhawani Attri.
