Madhav meets CM ahead of PM’s rally

JAMMU, Oct 31 : Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the State, BJP National general secretary, Ram Madhav who reached Srinagar this afternoon  held an important meeting with Chief Minster Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
According to party sources, Ram Madhav after his arrival in summer capital visited CM’s Gupkar residence to hold a meeting with him and discussed arrangements for PM’s rally of November 7.
The focus of the meeting was to ensure the success of PM’s rally in Srinagar on November 7 as it will be Mr Modi’s first rally in the Valley after the PDP and the BJP formed the coalition Government in the State this year, BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir told Excelsior.
He said both the leaders discussed the arrangements about the rally and also making it one of the successful rallies like the one which was addressed by former Prime Minster and BJP stalwart Atal Behari Vajpayee in Srinagar during the PDP- Congress regime.
Jehangir said Ram Madhav also sought maximum participation of PDP and BJP activists in the rally. Besides for the first time People’s Conference (PC) of Sajjad Gani Lone which is also a coalition partner in the Mufti Government is openly participating in PM’s rally. This will be for the first time that Lone’s Party is taking open part in PM’s rally in Kashmir which will be held in Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium during the afternoon on November 7.
Jehangir said Chief Minister also showed his great desire of making the rally a success as he is keen that the coalition should last its full term and provide the best Government to the State which Congress never provided.
Sources said that PM had a desire to visit Kashmir during autumn season and he had to visit in October but due to his preoccupation it could not materialize.
Sources said to make it an historical event, BJP-PDP and PC will leave no stone unturned to ensure maximum participation of the people especially youth in the rally.
Addressing a meeting of BJP leaders of the State later Madhav stressed on the Party leaders to ensure that Prime Minister’s rally in Srinagar turns out to be a grand success and they should ensure participation of youth in the rally.
Madhav told the BJP leaders that it’s their duty to make people aware about the Prime Minister’s initiatives and his message of peace, prosperity and development should reach everywhere.
Meanwhile, sources said that Ram Madhav also chaired a meeting with top BJP leaders at the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh’s official residence here. The meeting was also attended by Dr Singh.
Sources said that the BJP leader held a meeting with Peoples Conference chairman and Science and Technology Minister Sajad Lone here later.
Modi’s last Kashmir rally was held at the city’s Sher-e-Kashmir stadium in December last year.
Modi is likely to announce a major development package for the State as CM Mufti Sayeed has stated that the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit would be “path-breaking” and provide the “much-needed impetus” to the development agenda of the coalition government.
Sources said Madhav also visited the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium to take the stock of the arrangements for the rally. He is also staying close to the Stadium to have a proper watch over the situation.
