JAMMU, Nov 1: School Education Employees Coordination Committee (SEECC) has described banning of tuition by Government teachers as unjustified and said that the students need extra time and coaching to understand the subjects.
“In rural and far flung areas where there are no coaching centers, students need tuition which the teachers provide free without charging any fee. No doubt there are some selfish lecturers and teachers who don’t teach in school and force students to take tuition but such teachers should be identified and transferred to rural areas,” SEECC observed during a meeting, held today under the chairmanship of provincial president Amar Nath Thakur.
The meet suggested that no more private schools should be allowed to be opened to stop commercialization of education. “In cities only children of poor and labourer families read in Government schools and this is dangerous for the State as well as Government, which should implement Allahabad High Court judgment to end this difference, ” the speakers said.
SEECC also suggested that mass promotion policy upto 9th class must be stopped and sufficient staff should be provided in schools. There should be two Directors, one for primary and another for secondary education with one Director General for smooth functioning of the school education,” speakers added and stressed that political interference must be stopped besides redressal of grievances of teaching staff.
The meet also highlighted long pending demands like regularization of School Education officers.
