JAMMU, Nov 3: A delegation of National Secular Forum (NSF) visited Central University of Jammu (CUJ) and handed over memorandum of demands to the Vice Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima.
The delegation led by president Sukhdev Singh, apprised the VC about several irregularities, committed during the initial years of CUJ that led to loss to the institution. The NSF demanded audit of that period as a lot of irregularities had been committed. “Several Assistant Professors, especially non-locals, were appointed in hush-hush manner while highly qualified candidates fulfilling all the eligibility criteria were not called even for the interview,” Sukhdev explained and also demanded a review of the appointments made in past.
The NSF also demanded provision of Online Lectures, strict monitoring system to enforce punctuality of the teachers, establishment of full-fledged Health Centre on the campus, hostel facility for girl students and scholars, hygienic canteen with facility of lunch, Wi-Fi facility to all the students and scholars; enhancing the capacity of computer labs, provision of gymnasium and overhauling the exiting syllabi to match the best.
The Vice Chancellor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to look into the demands. He informed that work on generating Online Lectures and gymnasium had been initiated and the same would be completed soon. He also assured that all the bungling and wrong-doings would be probed and every possible step would be taken to address the issues of student and scholar community on priority basis.
The NSF delegation comprised of Qayoom Malik, JV Singh, Barket Ali, Joginder Kumar, Som Raj, Asad Ullah, Neeraj, Deepak and others.
