Preservation of languages

Sir,
Refer news item ‘Dorjey for preservation of language spoken in Ladakh’ DE Oct 10.
Ladakh division of the State is a repository of various languages. Due to presence of numerous TV channels and communication on- slaught, some of the native languages are losing their importance, and earthly flavour.
In case remedial measures are not taken right now, these languages may vanish, and it will be a great loss to the region. Only those languages survive that are spoken and written. Mere speaking  is not enough. The people should use it in  continue work, and be taught in schools. Wherever, these languages are not taught in schools, people on their own should make arrangements for the same. The literature available in these languages should be preserved at a Central places and use of technology to preserve and propagate should be a priority.
Yours etc….
