Lt Gen Nimbhorkar visits national integration camp

JAMMU Nov 4: General Officer Commanding White Night Corps, Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar, today visited the special national integration camp being held at NCC Camping Ground Nagrota.
The Corps Commander was received by Additional DG NCC J&K, Maj Gen Neeraj Verma and other officers of NCC Group Srinagar.
Around 550 NCC cadets and Associate NCC Officers representing all states and union territories are participating in this unique national integration camp.
Smartly turned out, NCC contingent comprising of boy and girl cadets put up an impressive show in presenting Guard of Honour to Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar.
Later, the General Officer and a large number of army dignitaries witnessed a cultural programme based on the rich cultural heritage of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions, presented by the NCC Cadets on the occasion.
The General Officer, while addressing the cadets, emphasized the need to conduct more such camps for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood and strengthening national integration. He described these as pre-requisite for the country’s growth and stability. He further lauded the significant contribution being made by the NCC in grooming the youth of the country. The General Officer observed that the strength of NCC has grown over the years, but considering the strength of youth particularly in J&K, more boys and girls needed to be brought under the ambit of the organization. He expressed happiness that an Air wing and a NCC Bn were being proposed to be raised in Srinagar, Kupwara and Udhampur respectively, which would provide new openings to the youth of the State.
Maj Gen Neeraj Verma, Additional DG NCC, J&K, in his welcome address gave a resume of the aims and objectives of the camp and also highlighted the future expansion plan of NCC in the State.
