JAMMU, Nov 4: Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee Tral – Awantipora Kashmir in its meeting first annual general meeting (AGM) held under the presidentship of J L Pandit sought the cooperation of entire community from these twin tehsils to preserve the shrines and ancient temples in the area which are its pristine glory.
The speakers in the meeting said that these shrines are a link to the past cultural heritage of the Kashmir and every effort needs to made for their preservation and upkeep for the future generations.
The meeting while expressing grave concern over the encroachment of the land of Hindu shrines and temples in the area has urged the authorities to take immediate steps for restoring the same by evicting the land grabbers.
Addressing the meeting J L Pandita said that in its displacement the community need not to be despondent and feel discouraged rather it needs to invoke inspiration from elders and ancestors like Kashyap Bandoo who as founder of Yuvak Sabha Kashmir, a journalist who had founded Martand and who belonged to the Gairoo Tral.
He said taking a cue from his life and struggle the community should rededicate itself for the common cause and start from the preservation of religious places which link us to thousands years of cultural history of Kashmir.
Mr Pandita said the Constitution of the Committee was framed with the efforts of Murar Jee Bhat, Hira Lal Bhat and Chuni Lal Bhat-the members of Drafting Committee.
During the meeting the telephone directory of the two tehsils was also released. J L Raina, B N Pandita, P N Raina, T N Bhat, D N Bhat shared the dais with president while general secretary’s report was read by H L Bhat and the balance sheet was presented by treasurer Sanjay Raina.
