3 honoured for contribution towards peace, harmony

JAMMU, Aug  28 : The Gandhi Global Family under the programme Sadbhavana-ke-Sipahi today organized a function to honour three campaigners of Gandhi Global Family for their outstanding contribution towards the promotion of peace and harmony in J&K following the footprints of Rajiv Gandhi.
The three campaigners namely Azhar Afzal Rather R/o Baramulla Kashmir, Manish Joshi R/o Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and T. Dorge R/o Leh Ladakh were awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award 2012.
Minister of State for Cooperative Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion while Major Geneal Retd G. S. Jamwal presided over the function.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the works of Gandhi Global Family J&K saying that Gandhi ji’s philosophy binds people for growth and welfare of the society and this is the high time to promote his ideology for world peace and harmonious living.
The Minister also appreciated the efforts of GGF in its focus on people to people contact across the Nation which is pre-requisite for peace, progress and prosperity in the world”.
The Minister also stressed on the need of honouring the Media Fraternity with Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award in recognition to their objective and pro society coverage which is also a contribution towards the welfare and growth of the society.
Earlier, welcoming the chief guest and others on the occasion, the Vice-President, Gandhi Global Family, Padmashree, S P Verma highlighted the future plans of GGF towards preaching Gandhi’s values in the State.
Among others, Ex Minister Garu Ram, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Joint Director Information Jammu Soujanya Sharma, educationist I. D. Soni,  and other members of GGF J&K were present on the occasion.
The function concluded with the vote of thanks by V. K. Katal, Coordinator.
