TEHRAN, Aug 28:
India is all set to bluntly tell Pakistan to act against terror on the ground instead of talking about it on the table, as Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh prepares to meet Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on the sidelines of the NAM Summit on Thursday.
The Prime Minister, who flew in to capital city of Iran this evening, is also meeting the supreme leader of the host nation, Mr Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahamadinejad tomorrow.
Pakistan is unwilling to cooperate in investigating and prosecuting the elements behind 26/11 attack or against the terror network operating on its soil, sources in the Indian Government feel, adding that instead of curbing the disruptive forces there was evidence to show that state agencies in Pakistan were supporting them. “They keep on switching their stands, keep shifting judges and everybody knows where the truth lies. We all know the truth and we need to act now,” sources, ahead of crucial bilateral meeting, said.
On the issue of recent hate campaign emanating from Pakistan on web and resulting exodus of people of North-east from various parts of the country, sources indicated that the issue is unlikely to be taken up at this level as it will not lead to any tangible outcome.
“This is true that some of the stuff was uploaded on websites from Pakistan but at the same time in cyber world no sovereignty works and it knows no boundaries and on the basis of this logic Pakistani side may get away from its obligations” sources said, adding that this is not a state-to-state issue.
Regarding the proposed meeting between Dr Singh and the Iranian top leadership, sources said “we are going to hold these bilateral talks as part of the NAM Summit and significant outcome is not expected, although wide range of issues are likely to come up for the discussion”. On the issue of gas pipeline from Iran to India, sources said the security of the pipeline and the pricing mechanism is paramount for India, which is yet to be sorted out.
The Prime Minister will be holding bilateral meetings with the leaders of Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the possibility of a meeting with the President of Egypt is also being worked out, sources said. (UNI)
