JAMMU, Nov 6: Presiding Officer of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Shahzad Azeem has issued notice to Jubilant Foodworks Limited (Domino’s Pizza India Limited), Coca-Cola Company and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited in a complaint filed by Deepak Mahajan, 5th Semester Law Student of Jammu University.
The notice has been issued under Sections 10/11/12 read with Section 2(b) of J&K Consumer Protection Act.
The grievance against the Coca–Cola company is that they are allowing the Dominos Ltd to sell soft drink manufactured by them at higher MRP than the MRP of the similar and same product being sold in the open market. “Different MRPs of same and similar situated product is irrational, unjust, illegal and unfair. Moreover, it leads to unfair trade practice and deficiency of services on their part”, the complainant submitted before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.
The complainant prayed before the Consumer Forum to direct the opposite parties to stop such an unethical trade practice and pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the complainant. Consumer Forum has warned the opposite party that in case of their non- appearance on the next date of hearing—December 7, 2015, matter would be taken, in ex-parte.
