SAMBA Nov 8: An Alumni Meet of Government Higher Secondary School Samba was held at R.R Resorts Border Road, Samba. The meet was organized by the ex-students of 1968-72 batch of Higher Secondary School Samba to honour and felicitate their teachers in order to promote the interest of academic excellence by strengthening the ties of good will and communication between the institute, its alumni and students.
Deedhar Singh (Retd Principal) in his welcome address extended warm greetings to the esteemed guests, respected teachers and other participants. He introduced the prominent teachers being felicitated on the occasion as I.D.Soni, Sagar Singh Jasrotia, Ram Singh, M.S Basur, Mehnga Ram, Bishamber Singh Slathia, Kuldeep Vaid, Rattan Chand, Hardev Gupta, Raj Kumar, Asha Singh Slathia, K.K.Padha, Harbans Singh, Romesh Sharma, D.K. Singh, Manohar Lal, Girdhari Lal Sharma, Raghubir Singh, Tirath Ram Gupta, Satya Parkash, Dev Raj Gupta, Bhagta Ram Sharma, Balbir Singh Sambyal and Jai Paul Singh; who are now old senior citizens settled in various parts of district Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
Vijay Singh Sambyal, DIG (Retired), in his key note address complemented the teachers and alumni of 1968-72 batch for being part of this alumni meet and emphasized that the alumni/students should never forget their teachers and parents who strive hard to shape their future. He said alumni should also develop refreshing and binding relations with the institution and share their knowledge and experience with the current students to improve their career. He also enjoined upon civil society of Samba to take due interest in the affairs of Higher Secondary School Samba.
He said that drug addiction menace has engulfed the number of youths in Samba also owing to the insensitivity of civil society towards this problem and stressed upon immediate steps to engage the youth in some healthy practices like Sports, Yoga and cultural/spiritual activities.
Incumbent Principal Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Samba Narinder Singh, C.E.O. Samba, O.P. Bhagat, P.C. Kapoor, Ramesh Singh Sambyal Ex. Director SSA. V.K. Sambyal Director Radio Kashmir Jammu, Prof. Gian Singh Sambyal Ex- Registrar Jammu University also spoke on this occasion.
