‘Festival of lights’ celebrated with zeal in various educational institutions

JAMMU, Nov 9: Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in many educational institutions across Jammu Province.
To celebrate the festival, Rajiv Gandhi College of Education, Kathua, organized Rangoli Making, Card making and Diva decoration competitions for the students. On the occasion, Laxmi Pujan was done in which all staff members and students participated. Anu Dogra, chairperson of the college, along with principal wished everyone a happy Diwali. At the end of the function, sweets were distributed among the participants.
Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET) today organized Inter-semester cultural competition “URJA- 2015” on the theme ‘Deepawali’. Vidhi S Singh, Chairman, JGEI, was the chief guest of the function. The students from different departments competed in ‘URJA-2015’ which served as a perfect competitive platform to showcase their talent. Certificates were also awarded to the winners in different categories.
Heritage School celebrated Diwali with much zeal and enthusiasm in its premises. Little toddlers of Pre-primary symbolically began the day with sapling plantation to mark a new beginning of good over evil followed by making Rangoli and decorating it with diyas. Laxmi Pujan was performed by the teachers and students, which was followed by mellifluous rendition of Ram Bhajan. The Principal addressed the gathering and wished everyone a safe Diwali.
JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School and its affiliated unit JK Little Millienium international school celebrated Diwali with religious gaiety in the school premises. Students of class Ist to 3rd presented enactment of Epic Ramayana. Inter-class Rangoli making competition was also organized for class Ist, 2nd & 3rd. The students also lit the diyas and candles. Managing Director of the School, Sanjeev Gupta advised the students to celebrate crackers free Diwali.
Diwali was also with great fervor in Jammu Sanskriti School. The students decorated the school with diyas and lights. A special assembly was organized in the school premises which started with Saraswati Vandana. A short skit on eco-friendly Diwali was presented by humming buds of the school. The function concluded with Giddha performance by senior students. Chairperson, Harpreet Singh Anand and Principal cum vice chairperson, Rohini Aima, conveyed his best wishes to staff and students and distributed sweets among them.
Festival of Diwali was also celebrated in Luthra Public School, Talab Tillo. The function started with lighting diyas and candles and by reciting bhajans to please Goddess Lakshmi. A Rangoli competition was also held and trophies were awarded merit wise. Principal, Sanjeev Luthra stressed upon the students and staff members to enlighten themselves with teachings of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani Talab (Jammu) celebrated Diwali with full enthusiasm. Children from Nursery to Class 10th participated in the function. A Rangoli and Card making competition was also organized for the students. Principal of the school, Gurtaj Singh and Chairman, Prof Harbans Singh, wished everyone a very Happy Diwali.
A function to celebrate Diwali was organized today in Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu. A Rangoli making and candle decorating competition was held on the occasion. The winners were distributed prizes by the Director of the School, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, who also distributed sweets among the students.
Ashoka Higher Secondary School, Krishna Nagar, Jammu celebrated Diwali with great zeal.  A Rangoli making and Card making competition marked the celebrations. Principal, Kamini Angral threw light on the pious festival and advised the students to celebrate crackers free Diwali.
Diwali was celebrated with great pomp and show in the premises of Elite Public High School, Udheywalla, Jammu. The celebrations started with speech of students of various classes on the topic ‘Diwali’. Managing Director, Vasudha Mahajan and Principal, Sanjay Sharma participated in the celebration and explained the students the significance of the festival.
The festival of lights was also celebrated in May Fair School, Chand Nagar, Jammu and its branch at Janipur. The programme started with Ram Leela in Chand Nagar branch. Diya making and Rangoli making competitions were also organized. Later, sweets were distributed among the students by the concerned principals.
A function in connection with Diwali was also organized at DCM Public School. Chairman, Satpal Sharma, Managing Director, Dheeraj Sharma and Principal, Rama Jamwal, were also present. Diya decoration, Rangoli competition and Clay Modeling marked the occasion. Managing Director extended warm greeting on the Diwali to all the students and staff members.
RM Public School celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm in its premises. The function started with lighting of diyas and candles by Trustee of the school, Rita Mengi and Principal, Ravinder Kour. The students presented various cultural items including a skit based on Ramayana. In the end, sweets were distributed among students and staff members.
A candle and diya decorating competition was organized today in TS Public School, Channi Rama, Jammu in connection with Diwali.  The competition concluded with prize distribution among outstanding students by Chairperson of the school, Pooja Malhotra.
Kidzee Pre-school celebrated Diwali with with great pomp and show at its branches— Anand Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo. The function started with special assembly in which students were given demonstration regarding Diwali festival. Attired in colourful dresses, the little kids actively participated in making of colourful Rangolies and decoration of diyas with the help of their facilitators. In the end, sweets were distributed among the kids.
Diwali was also celebrated in Madhuvan Kids Playway School. The school was beautiful decorated with the help of lights and diyas. Lakshmi Poojan was also held. The students participated in Diya making and fancy dress show. Principal, Amrit Choudhary, distributed sweets among the students and gifts among the staff.
