SRINAGAR, Oct 1: At least 61000 daily-wagers and casual labours working in various Government and semi-Government departments are going for indefinite hunger strike from October 2 against “betrayal and excesses” of successive regimes.
The employees under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Casual and Daily wagers Forum would start the indefinite hunger strike from Friday morning here in city.
“We are holding hunger strike against disinterest of present Government towards the issues of dailywagers and casual labours. We are also holding our protest against the treachery and historical betrayal of last year by previous coalition Government,” the Forum said.
The Forum said that the successive regimes have involved them in various futile exercises from last 20 years in the name of resolving their issues. The daily wagers and casual labours are seeking regularization.
The Forum has appealed all the non-regularized employees to reach summer capital and make the hunger strike programme a success.
