‘GURU cannot be replaced by GOOGLE’

JAMMU, Nov 10:     The University Grants Commission (UGC) Vice Chairman Prof Dev Raj, who was here to attend the Academic Council & Executive Council meeting, today visited the temporary academic block of the Central University of Jammu, Sainik Colony and interacted with the faculty members.
While interacting with the faculty members at TAB, Prof Dev Raj emphasized upon the teachers to work with utmost sincerity and commitment towards building the career of the students. He further advised the teachers to keep on updating themselves which is essential for academic survival as today is a competitive world where they have to compete globally. He further added that there are many schemes of UGC for which they should apply and seek the benefits of these schemes.
He informed that UGC provides liberal funding to the teachers working in the Central Universities and motivated the faculty members of CUJ to provide exposure to the students through interactive collaborative and participative sessions. He said teacher and students should continue to have constant interaction with each other for enlightening themselves. Teacher is a “GURU” who cannot be replaced by “GOOGLE” and the respect of the teacher lies in his/her own hard work, dedication and  commitment, he said and added that the student always look towards the teacher with respect and expect him/her to be good guide.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the CUJ, also spoke on the occasion and emphasized that there is no escape from hard work. Teachers have to rise to the expectations of the Institution, he added.
Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of the CUJ, introduced the faculty members and coordinated proceedings of the interaction.
