KATHUA, Nov 10: In view of the festive season , a team of Legal Metrology Department, Kathua headed by Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Kathua, Ajay Verma conducted intensive checking of various business establishments at main Bazar Kathua, Jarai Road, College Road, Patel Nagar, Kathua and adjoining areas .
On the occasion, as many as eight traders were booked and a penalty of Rs 13100 was imposed for violating various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (Amendment Act) 2011 and Package Commodities Rules.
The Department has warned the traders to desist from using unfair trade practices and appealed consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing commodities especially during the festivals.
