14 CAPD sugar bags seized; dealer suspended, TSO attached

RAJOURI, Nov 13: Police seized 14 bags of CAPD sugar during raid from a private store of a ration dealer at village Pangai in Thannamandi today while dealer managed to escape.
Official sources said SDPO Thannamandi, Iftikhar Talib on getting specific information about the black-marketing of CAPD levy sugar quota by a ration dealer, Mohd Iqbal alias Kaka, son of Mohd Din, resident of Pangai village, the police party from Thannamandi conducted raid and seized 14 bags ( 7 qtl) of sugar meant for general public of the area. The dealer had hidden this quota in newly half constructed house. From there, he was selling the quota on high rates to some traders of the area.
The police seized all the 14 bags and registered a case FIR No. 173/ 2015 against the ration dealer who slipped away and went underground. The police parties were conducting raids to arrest him.
While the people of the area have not been provided sugar quota by CAPD for the last more than two and half months, this dealer was selling public quota in black, apparently in connivance with some CAPD officials.
Minister for CAPD Ch Zulfkar Ali told the Excelsior that the directions were issued to the Director CAPD, Jammu G S Chib to suspend the license of the ration dealer. He said that pending inquiry the TSO Thannamandi) Manmohan Suri has been attached. The Vigilance and Monitoring team of CAPD Rajouri was rushed to Thannamandi and Pangai to ascertain the facts and get all the details. The report is likely to be received by tomorrow. Whosesoever, if found involved, will have to face action, the minister said.
