Yawar for cancellation of fake MNREGA job cards

Baramulla, Nov 13: An amount of Rs.7.65 crore is being spent as the labour budget under MGNREGA in Rafiabad constituency of District Baramulla during the current fiscal. About 617 developmental works have been identified, out of which 268 works stand completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.00 crore so far. About 246 IAY units have also been sanctioned this year to provide shelter to BPL houseless people of the constituency.
This was stated during a meeting of the officers of Rural Development Department held under the chairmanship of MLA Rafiabad, Yawar Dilawer Mir. Assistant Commissioner Develop-ment Baramulla, Block Develo-pment Officers and all the concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that keeping in view the great demand from the youth of the constituency, 10 Modern Sports Stadiums are being constructed at various locations of the Rafiabad Constituency during the current fiscal under the convergence programme.
Meanwhile, the MLA directed the officers of Rural Development Department to provide Job Cards under MGNREGA to the genuine people and cancel all the fake job cards forthwith.
He said that there should be absolute transparency and accountability during implementation of different schemes, which cannot be compromised. He asked the officers to conduct regular field visits to ascertain physical and financial status of different works being executed at ground.
He also suggested adopting a common model for all the proposed sports stadiums in the constituency. He also emphasized to undertake execution of various works under Four Watershed Management Projects sanctioned for the Rafiabad constituency expeditiously, so that benefits reach to the people at the ground level.
Many deputations also met Yawar Mir during his daylong mass contact tour and sought redressal of their grievances. A deputation of Achabal demanded adequate supply of timber, whereas the people from Ferozpora, Doabgah and Vijbal demanded setting up of fruit /apple collection Centers under Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) in their respective areas.
In a separate meeting with the officers of CA&PD Baramulla, Yawar urged for winter stocking of food grains in the remote and inaccessible areas of the Rafiabad constituency before closure of the roads due to snowfall so that people are not put to hardships.
