SRINAGAR, Nov 13: Pursuant to the order of High Court of J&K, Vigilance Organization Kashmir today registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against officials of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Srinagar.
The High Court of J&K, in its October 28, 2015 order, observed that various constructions were illegally raised in the prohibited areas; without permission, in violation of permission, in violation of Master Plan and in violation of Court orders which was indicative of the fact that Enforcement Wing of LAWDA was acting in collusion with the law breakers and facilitating illegal constructions. These include a massive construction of 16,464 Sfts by M/s Tahir Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Nigeen, double storey structure on Mac’s Island by the name ‘Nigeen View restaurant’ on the bank of Nigeen Lake, double storey structure by ISM at Dachigam by Directorate ISM etc.
The commissions and omissions on the part of Enforcement Wing of LAWDA Srinagar constitute an offence of criminal misconduct and accordingly case FIR No. 48/2015 u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and section 109, 120-B, 188 RPC has been registered for further investigation, said an official handout of the Vigilance Organization.
