Kashmir girl students visit OTA Chennai

JAMMU, Nov 14:  Fifteen girl students from south Kashmir sponsored by Chinar Corps and undergoing educational tour since November 7, reached Chennai today.
The Kashmiri students paid visit to Officers’ Training Academy where they witnessed the lady cadets undergoing training to become an Army Officer in the Indian Army. They also met the Commandant of the OTA, Chennai and were inspired. Some of the visiting girls expressed their desire to  become Army officer in future.
During visit to the Academy, the students also visited training area where the cadets get rigorous training. Some girls practiced with the training equipment and obstacles and had a fun. They also visited museum, cadet mess, auditorium, living lines and amusement places there.  The girls met warmly with the lady cadets and enquired about the procedure for joining the defence forces. Guidance was given to these girls in the auditorium about the selection process in the Army.
In the evening at Tambaram Air Force base, they witnessed take off and landing of fighter and other aircrafts. Staff of Indian Air Force explained them the function and role of Air Force. They also came to know there that woman also fly the fighter air-crafts. This also made some girls anxious to join the defence especially IAF.
One of the girls T. Altaf  expressed her views that after completing 12th class she would crack all the hurdles to become an Army officer. This educational/ motivational tour has given an insight  and exposure to the girls from Kashmir to witness women empowerment in the country.
