Flood-hit poultry farm owners demand compensation

Srinagar, Nov 14: The last year’s devastating floods ravaged the poultry farms in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district but the Government has not paid any compensation to the owners, leading to resentment among them.
The poultry owners told Excelsior that their sector has been completely ignored by the Government and no amount whatsoever was paid to them by the authorities so far. “Though the Government paid some amount of relief to other flood affected sectors but ours has been completely ignored. No one talks about us,” they complained.
Poultry Inspector, Dr Nisar Ahmad told Excelsior said out of 1035 poultry farms, a total of 100 were fully damaged while 300 suffered partial damage. “Some other farms also suffered minor damage,” he said.
When asked about the relief demand of the poultry owners, he said the issue has been raised with concerned authorities and hopefully they would be compensated soon.
