JAMMU, Nov 14: Usha Vohra, First Lady of the State, participated in the Children’s Day function organized here today by the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society (VKWS).
The students of different schools which are being run by the VKWS and those of Government School, Shyama Chak, presented a very impressive cultural programme which included skits, songs and dance items.
Mrs. Vohra highly appreciated the cultural presentations by the students and complimented the VKWS for providing quality education to the children belonging to the disadvantaged sections of the society. She lauded the efforts of VKWS and lauded the teachers of the Society in moulding the young generation and promoting their development to become capable of standing on their own feet and also discharging their obligations to the society.
On behalf of the Governor, Mrs Vohra assured full support to the VKWS in advancing the noble cause of education to the children belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society and presented scholarships to the meritorious rural girl students who have been adopted by the VKWS.
Ruby Sharma, Working President, VKSW, presented the welcome address and highlighted the ongoing projects of VKWS. Ashok Chaturvedi, Secretary, VKWS, presented the formal vote of thanks.
A large number of students and many distinguished guests were present on the occasion.
