“It is a state subject of amending Section 177 and 199 of IPC. Government will bring this amendment in the upcoming Assembly Session,” the official also said.

Government claimed that once the proposal is cleared by the Cabinet, people will not be required to make frequent visits to the offices and meeting officials.

The Government has also proposed to reduce timeline of these 12 services. At present, there is 60-day timeline for OBC certificate and SC certificate, but Government has proposed to introduce 14-day timeline for these services.

Another official said that for Birth and Death order, timeline will also be reduced from the existing 30 days to 14 days. The new timeline for Domicile certificates will be 14-days.
