Promote Lakhanpur, Basohli as tourism destinations: Div Com

JAMMU, Nov 14: The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal has exhorted Tourism Department for promoting Lakhanpur and Basohli as tourism destinations.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal visited Lakhanpur and inspected the pace of development of Budget Accommodation building coming up there. He was accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Kathua Romesh Kumar and Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority.
The Divisional Commissio-ner took a detailed review of the pace of works being executed by Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority in and around Lakhanpur. He enquired about the progress achieved in the formation of Basohli Development Authority which has already been announced by the Chief Minister.
The District Development Commissioner Kathua, Romesh Kumar apprised that land papers of the villages proposed to be included in the Basohli Development Authority stand already submitted to the Tourism Department.
The Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority apprised Divisional Commissioner that Budget Accommodation building at Lakhanpur, taken up under Centrally Sponsored Scheme is likely to be completed by June, 2016. He added that LSDA has already constructed a public convenience unit near Budget Accommodation and work on Children’s Park in the same complex is under progress.
The Divisional Commissioner asked District Development Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority for proper land scapping of the area, construction of ornamental type bridges over Ravi Canal Tributary that flows in the middle of the complex and explore the possibility of developing a Glass House Restaurant, Roof Top Garden and  installation of  big display screens above the building.
He stressed the need for proper development of prime site keeping in view its strategic location. He added that this complex has the potential of ideal tourist spot and can be used to show case J&K’s Tourism Spots and rich cultural heritage to the visitors in a befitting manner.
