SAMBA, Nov 14: A biker was crushed to death by a speedy truck in Jatwal area, falling under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal police station.
As per police sources, a Splendor motorcycle without registration number was hit by a truck bearing registration number JK02AX-6327 at Jatwal this evening, resulting into death of the biker. The truck was on its way to Jammu from Kathua.
The deceased has been identified as Diwan Chand (53), son of Des Raj, a resident of Jatwal, district Samba.
The driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot, but the vehicle was caught by a police team from Samba police station headed by SHO Inspector Sanjeev Singh Chib and one person was arrested on the spot, while his associate escaped.
During questioning, the arrested person admitted the offence and was handed over to Ghagwal police for further investigation.
The body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case in this regard has been registered at Ghagwal police station and investigations started.
