Medical employees highlight demands, elect office bearers

SAMBA, Nov 14: A day-long convention of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) was held here, wherein the speakers highlighted the demands of the employees. On the occasion, new office bearers of JKMEF for Samba district were also elected.
The conference was chaired by president, JKMEF, Sushil Sudan, along with Vinod Kumar Sharma, secretary general, JKMEF, working president, Pharmacist Association and Anoop Singh, president, Driver Cleaners Union, SHTO Jammu.
Hundreds of employees of different categories of Health Department, District Samba, participated in the conference.
The leaders of the Federation highlighted various demands of the employees which included immediate clearance of DPC of various categories, filling up of vacant posts in Health and Family Welfare Department, creation of posts of District Pharmacy Officers and Block Pharmacy Officers besides Section Officers in all the CMO offices and posts of Head Assistants at Block level and regular release of salary of FMPHWs working in Sub Centres under 2211 Family Welfare Head.
The Federation also demanded risk allowance for Health Department employees, enhancement of FTA to Rs 1000, creation of posts of LHVs in new PHC and 50% promotion as Health Educator to FMPHW, amendment of SRO 20 dated February 24, 1992, fixation of 25% quota for training to Class IV employees for different Para Medical courses and DDO powers for Medical Officer at PHC level besides designating him as Zonal Medical Officer to improve functioning of Health Department.
Meanwhile, the new body of JKMEF for Samba district was also elected. The new body comprised of Kuldeep Dabgotra as president, Pawan Sharma and Mohd Aslam as senior vice-presidents, Davinder Sharma and Kamla Devi as vice-presidents, Vikas Sharma as general secretary, Sunil Bandral as office secretary/cashier, Mohit Seth as joint secretary, Sat Paul Bhagat as publicity secretary, Darshan Kumar as secretary and Rakesh Sharma as chief organizer.
The district body of JKMEF also constituted a committee for basic health workers.
