SAMBA, Nov 14: Three persons including a newly wedded couple were killed and 12 others got injured, when the bus they were traveling in, collided with a railway bridge near Nanke Chak area on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway, here today.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AW-0281 was on its way to Jammu from Billawar, district Kathua, when the driver while saving a scooterist lost control over the vehicle and it got collided with railway bridge near Nanke Chak, causing on the spot death of three persons including a newly wedded couple and injuries to 12 others.
After getting information, police team and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Samba in police and other vehicles, from where two critically injured including a 10-year old girl were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Madhu Bala, wife of Ashok Singh, a resident of Taloor, Samba, Krishan Lal, a resident of Domana, Jammu and his wife Ashu Devi.
Krishan Lal, who got married to Ashu Devi during recent Navratras had gone to the residence of his in-laws in Samba along with his wife on the occasion of Bhai Dooj. While returning back to their residence at Domana, both lost their lives in this accident.
The injured have been identified as Amrik Singh, a resident of Ward Number 10, Kathua, Suman Bala, resident of Madwal, Samba, Satinder Kumar, resident of Nanke Chak, Kuldeep Singh, resident of  Palli Morh, Kathua, Shallu Devi, resident of Nanke Chak, Samba, Ankshita, resident of Kehli Mandi, Samba, Disha Sharma, resident of Kehli Mandi, Samba, Anamika, resident of Nanke Chak, Samba, Anita Devi, resident of Bari Brahmana, Sikander Ram, resident of Nanke Chak, Samba, Anamika, resident of Kootah, Kathua and Amit Kumar, resident of Langath, Samba.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case in this regard has been registered at Samba police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the driver, who managed to escape from the spot.
