10 bovine smugglers held

JAMMU, Aug 29: Police today arrested 10 bovine smugglers and rescued 42 milch animals, from three different locations.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, Police party from Samba Police Station laid a naka at Mansar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02S-8243.
During search 12 bovine animals were recovered and four persons namely Liaqat Ali, son of Mohd Shafi of Jeevan Nagar, Jammu, Shabir, son of Hussain of RS Pura, Hilal Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Kadipura, Anantnag and Nazir Ahmed, son of Abdul Ahad of Mirgund, Anantnag were arrested.
A case under FIR number164/12 has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Spokesman added that, police party from Bani Police station laid a naka, arrested 2 bovine smugglers Arshad Ahmad, son of Ali Mohd of Basti, tehsil Bhaderwah district Doda and Arif Hussain, son of Jan Mohd of Barmota, tehsil Bani district Kathua and recovered 13 milch animals, which they were smuggling to Bhaderwah from Bani on foot.
He said that two of their accomplaince namely Ishaq Ahmad alias Billa, son of Mohd Younis of Sandroon tehsil Bani district kathua and Faqar Din, son of Mohd Yousaf of Sandroon Morha Baggan Bani fled from the spot and efforts were on to nab them.
A case under FIR number 34/ 12 stands registered at Bani Police Station.
In another incident, Doda police foiled illegal transportation of the bovine animals and arrested four persons.
Police spokesman said that, Police today arrested four bovine smugglers and recovered 17 milch animals from their possession from two different locations—Pul Doda and Ghat road, Doda.
He added that bovine smugglers namely Driver Ajaz Ahmed, son of Jalal Din of Kaila Drabra Pranoo, Ghulam Nabi, son of Bashir Ahmed of Bharath, Irshad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi of Drabra Pranoo and Irshad Ahmed, son of Gul Mohd Malik of Labbar Marmat, were arrested.
The two vehicles (JK02AH 1423 and JK06 4081) carrying bovine animals were seized and cases have been registered at concerned police stations.
