JAMMU, Nov 16: A 22-year-old youth was killed today after being run over by a train in Sidhra area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, at about 7.25 this morning somebody informed the Railway police that a crushed male body was lying on the railway track at 6.4 km in Bajalta area.
On getting information a police team of GRP Jammu reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. Meanwhile, the police team found a scooty parked near the accident spot, allegedly belonging to the deceased youth.
On the basis of the documents recovered from the scooty, the deceased was identified as Gagan Choudhary son of Om Prakash, a resident of Sidhra.
Later, after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station GRP Jammu and investigations started.
