JAMMU, Nov 16: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) carried out cleanliness drive in ward number 3 (Peerkho area) on the fifth day of the ongoing week-long cleanliness drive programme launched on the directions of JMC Commissioner, Mandeep Kaur.
The campaign was led by RS Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (Adm), JMC along with Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Talat Mahmood, CTO, Sanitation Officer, Asstt Sanitation Officers and other field staff of JMC.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta flagged off the team in presence of Rajinder Gupta, Karan Singh, Daleep Singh, Prof Sham, Rajiv Bhardwaj, RC Gupta, Shashi Sapolia, Hari Om, Rajesh Kumar, Chaman Lal and Raj Kumar. Students of the Government School also participated in this programme.
The basic objective of the drive was to ensure cleanliness of roads, lanes, by-lanes by sweeping and de-silting in every nook and corner.
To make this campaign effective at ground level and to enlist the public cooperation for making the areas clean, the people of various walks of society were invited to participate in the drive.
During campaign, RS Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC made an appeal to general public of the area to come forward and help JMC to keep the area neat and clean and also appealed to avoid the use of polythene which is the main cause of choking of drains/nallahs.
